Cape Town – Who knew nostalgia could feel this sexy.

7 former Playboy cover girls re-created their iconic covers from decades ago and it’s sexier than you may think.

One of the cover models includes Candace Collins, who worked as a Bunny at the Chicago Playboy Club. When she was first approached to do the shoot, Candace wrote in a blog post: “I was thrilled and then terrified and then determined to make this shoot something I would be proud of and also, in a way, let the world know that women of a certain age still have a lot of fight and spirit left in them long after their '20s disappear.”

And boy did she, as well as the 6 other cover models, deliver!

Along with the then and now covers, Playboy also shared a little snippet of each woman explaining how they first got involved with Playboy.

1. Monique St. Pierre - November Playmate 1978

While Monique absolutely loved her experience with Playboy she reveals she was a model and already “kind of known” before her issue came out.

The 63-year-old lived at the mansion for a year and was always the “mama” in the house and she still is in her profession. “I run a recovery house for women addicted to alcohol and drugs. What I’m doing now is such an honour and privilege. I get to witness miracles.”

2. Candace Collins - December Playmate 1979

Candace was no stranger to Playboy, appearing on eight covers in total and worked as a Bunny at the Chicago Playboy Club.

Reminiscing about her close relationship with Playboy, Candace said: “The Playboy photographers and assistants were all friends of mine. “I did a lot of test cover shoots... I now know just how special those shoots were and feel very, very lucky to be in such a unique sorority.”

3. Cathy St. George - August Playmate 1982

Cathy “had already been married and worked as the executive for a company” when she moved to Los Angeles and unexpectedly became a model.

Monique was her partner in crime and the rest is history. “Monique was my sidekick and we were bad! I don’t remember most of the eighties. If you lived it, you don’t remember it.”

4. Charlotte Kemp - December Playmate 1982

Charlotte Kemp stumbled upon Playboy through her roommate. Drunk and still a virgin one Saturday night, Charlotte went to Playboy in Chicago and by Monday morning she was shooting her cover in LA.

5. Kimberly Conrad Hefner - January Playmate 1988

Kimberly was Hugh Hefner’s second wife and is the mother of two of his four children. “Hef and I started dating, got married, had kids, and the rest is history.”

6. Reneé Tenison - November 1989 Playmate

Reneé was the first African-American Playmate of the Year, which caused some controversy and comments amongst the other playmates. However the now 48-year-old responded to comments saying: “Well, if you’re pro-choice, shouldn’t I have the right to choose what I want to do?”

7. Lisa Matthews - April Playmate 1990

Lisa was signed to a regular modelling agency in LA when she tested for Playboy. She got an immediate and very positive response. Thinking back on her new found fame after her centrefold came out, Lisa said: “I remember I’d be travelling and people would come up to me and they’d say, ‘I think I’ve seen you in a national magazine.’

“The funniest place that happened was outside the Vatican in Rome.”
