Johannesburg – Danny K’s latest achievement is welcoming a beautiful baby boy with wife, Lisa, into the world. Jayden Max Koppel was born on the 4th of July and the new mom and dad seem absolutely smitten.
We caught up with Danny to find out what it’s like to be a dad and to find out what Banksy, Danny's now famous precious bulldog, thinks of it all.
Channel24:
"How does it feel to be a DILF now?"
Danny K:
"OMG! A what?!" Danny laughs. "Is that the male version of a MILF? It’s the first time I have been referred to as a DILF so I am quite taken back but I’m honoured." He laughs again and adds that he is completely excited to be a dad; "I believe I can still be a dad and have mojo, you don’t lose that when you have a child."
Channel24:
"What lullabies have you been singing to Jayden?"
Danny K:
"I haven’t really sung him any of the traditional old school lullabies, I have been singing more modern lullabies. Some Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Prince." He adds; "I actually played him some Kanye West the other day", he says laughing. "I played him Gold Digger. He liked that."
Danny shared the first picture of Jayden on Instagram with the caption: "The creation of life is nothing short of a miracle."
Channel24:
"How has Banksy taken to the new arrival?"
Danny K:
"Banksy has become quite famous," he says with a chuckle. "He is quite the prima donna, so we’ve had to stroke his ego quite a bit. We made him feel part of the family and let him know he is still loved and our first son," he says on a light note.
Channel24:
"Are you going to slow down with work or do you have anything big coming up?"
Danny K:
"I have quite a few things coming up, I have been busy with my new single, Personal Paradise that has come out and is doing very well so we are performing that quite a lot. In December I have a new experiment house album coming out, so I will be busy with that while changing nappies and burping the baby, but it’s all part of being a dad."
Channel24:
"How has being a dad changed you and your view of your work and life?"
Danny K:
"I love being a dad, it’s all about balance. Although I am busy at work I still want to be there for these special moments and support Lisa. It definitely isn’t easy, can’t say I have had much sleep." He adds; "If I record another video they will have to put quite a bit of make-up under my eyes to get the circles away but I’m enjoying all of it. Jayden has been such an inspiration to me, being a song writer it will definitely influence my writing. I am inspired in new ways and a lot of that will transcribe into songs in the future."
