Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger to split?

Los Angeles - Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger's marriage is allegedly on the rocks.

The 29-year-old singer and the 39-year-old Nickelback frontman, who tied the knot at Château de La Napoule in the South of France 14-months ago, are reportedly "headed for a split".

A source told Us Weekly magazine: "It's over. He has been going around Los Angeles and telling people that they're divorcing."

The Here's To Never Growing Up hitmaker was spotted leaving the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood on 30 August without her 20-carat diamond wedding ring or 14-carat pear-shaped engagement ring on her finger.

A friend close to the blonde beauty blames Chad for their alleged troubles, saying: "Chad is just a complete jerk in the way he talks to her, and the way he talks to people in general. A lot of her friends don't like him."

But another insider suggested they are still working on their marriage, adding: "There's no concrete timeline for divorce right now."

The duo, who both hail from Canada and have a combined fortune of $105m, celebrated their first wedding anniversary on 1 July, and Chad presented Avril with a 17-carat ring for the occasion.

She shared a picture of them together with the gift on Twitter, with the caption: "I still can't believe my 1 year anniversary gift. 17 carat emerald cut. Wow. I love my hubby (sic)"

But she has since deleted the tweet.

The Complicated singer was previously married to Sum 41 star Deryck Whibley, whom she split from in 2009 after three years of marriage.
