Brad Pitt: I feel better having a gun

Los Angeles - Brad Pitt "doesn't feel safe" without a gun.

The Killing Them Softly actor is protective of his fiancée Angelina Jolie and the children they raise, and feels owning a weapon is "in his DNA" as an American.

He told the Daily Mail's Live magazine: "America is a country founded on guns. It's in our DNA. It's very strange but I feel better having a gun. I really do. I don't feel safe, I don't feel the house is completely safe, if I don't have one hidden somewhere.

"That's my thinking, right or wrong."

'It's chaos and a joy'

Brad, 48, points out how he was exposed to guns from an early age but still turned out to be a responsible adult.

He added: "I got my first BB gun when I was in nursery school. I got my first shotgun by first grade [six years old], I had shot a handgun by third grade [eight] and I grew up in a pretty sane environment."

While Brad and Angelina have very busy acting schedules, filming in locations around the world, they always take their family with them, and make a point of always eating breakfast together, no matter how hard they are working.

Brad explained: "Right now, Mama [Angelina] is working but the day always starts with breakfast, all of us together.

"It's chaos and a joy. When they are young like this, it's special, and I'm very aware they'll be grown up before we know it. I see it already and I'm clinging on with my nails."

Bored Brad? Now that "mama's" working and you're at home with a small country?

Not long ago it was in America's DNA to discriminate against black people and not allow women to vote. DNA can and should change.

Dude Seriously go and F¥CK yourself, when armed gangs bash down your front door and want to rape and kill your loved ones , you call ARMED security and police, some of us take our safety seriously and don't count on distant rescue that might never show! Keep your ignorant opinions to yourself!

grant.chancellormaddison - okay. I do not condone guns, but I do know the world we live in is sometimes a better place having a fire-arm. By choice, I don't keep one and never will. My father did, it's his right to, but I never felt safe around the thing. In any case, keeping a fire arm in SA can (and have countless times before) turn against you as you get killed by your own fire arm. That's not the point though... Please do not disrespect Frank's opinion - as he is talking sense, sense which you disagree with. Fair enough. He makes a valid statement - your 'defense' (or lack there-of) loses it's validity because you attack instead of debate your point. In short: KEEP YOUR IGNORANT OPINIONS TO YOURSELF, and leave the debates to the adults.

Ok dude so you don't like guns that's fine, but don't drink the kool-aid about guns being turned against you alright, guns get used against people because they leave them locked up in the safe, they don't have proper training and there situational awareness is not there, mine is always on my hip and I have training in the use of it and I practice regulary, now you don't have one by choice but that choice allows criminals to easily attack you and your family, and you are saying that you accept the consequences (if any) of being unarmed. I support firearm owners and will use my voice to defend my right to protect my self and my loved ones. And weather you are armed or not the likely hood of the criminals just killing you is very high so ill take my chances ,which are a dam slight better than yours.
