Los Angeles - Caitlyn Jenner had a naming ceremony on Thursday.

The 65-year-old star was officially named by a minister in a spiritual event by the swimming pool of her Malibu home, two months after she revealed her new identity on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine.

The ceremony saw Caitlyn, who was wearing a short white dress, give a speech, while Karma Chameleon hitmaker and transgender actress Candis Cayne performed.

A day before the ritual took place, Caitlyn's new pal Boy George praised her for her courage in transitioning, saying he was thrilled by the reception she's had from the general public because it shows people are more accepting than when he was at the height of his fame in the 1980s.

He told Yahoo: "It's that world I was fighting for in 1984. That was what I wanted. I wanted people not to care about whether you were gay, straight, black, white, transgender, whatever it may be."

However, only some of the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star's pals were there, as the event was held on the same day his youngest daughter Kylie Jenner celebrated her graduation from school with a huge party hosted by her mother, Caitlyn's ex-wife, Kris Jenner.

Meanwhile, Caitlyn Jenner received a standing ovation at a Culture Club show the evening of her spiritual naming ceremony.

The I Am Cait star was met with rapturous applause as she welcomed the band on stage prior to their performance at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Speaking to the crowd, she said: "Caitlyn Jenner in the house for her first Boy George concert! This is going to be a good group. Thank you so much.

"Enough about me. Thank you for being here tonight. This is so much fun for me. Let's hear it here at the Greek Theatre for Boy George! Let's get it going!"

The 54-year-old performer seemed thrilled with crowd's reaction when Caitlyn arrived on stage to open the show because it showed his fans were supportive of her decision to transition to a woman.

According to The Sun newspaper, he told the audience: "I expected a standing ovation for her and I wasn't disappointed ... We need to celebrate the kinds of changes that are happening."

Caitlyn  - who attended the show with her rumoured girlfriend Candis Cayne - was returning the favour by introducing the band, as frontman Boy George is believed to have sung at her spiritual naming ceremony earlier in the day.
