Empire hunk comes out as gay

Cape Town – Empire actor Jussie Smollett has come out as gay.

The hot new TV series arrived on South African screens last Wednesday and has proved to be a hit with audiences.

Jussie, who plays Jamal Lyon and is considered the ‘black sheep’ of the Lyon family, portrays a gay singer/songwriter in the musical drama.

The hunky actor therefore felt it only appropriate to be true to himself and his sexuality by admitting he is gay on The Ellen Show.

In a personal, yet informing and meaningful way, Jussie opened up to Ellen after their recorded interview, about why he wasn’t hiding anything but did keep things private.

He said: "There is no closet, there has never been a closet…

"I don’t have a closet but I have a home and it is my responsibility to protect that home so that is why I choose not to talk about my personal life."

Feeling happy and relieved Jussie ends the discussion off in the best way saying "Boom. Now you don’t even gotta ask no more!"
