Jennifer Lawrence: I'm not sexy

Los Angeles - Jennifer Lawrence doesn't think she is "sexy".

The 22-year-old actress, who recently became the face of fashion house Dior, is bemused by her sex symbol status as she never used to have an interest in clothes or taking pride in her appearance up until recently.

She said: "I have hated shopping my entire life ... Then when I started to become known I would just get given clothes that I didn't really like, but they were free and I didn't have to go shopping so I would spend years just wearing clothes I didn't really like. Then recently I bit the bullet and went shopping ... and really enjoyed it.

'I'm a boring person'

"As for being a sex symbol, I don't think of myself as sexy and, obviously, it's not true. I'm going to try to push that out of my mind because it makes me queasy."

Jennifer considers herself a "boring" person and chooses her film roles carefully to avoid anything similar to her own personality or cliché female parts.

In an interview in The Sun newspaper, she said: "I never play characters that are like me because I'm a boring person. I wouldn't want to see me in a movie. It's hard for a young woman because typically the roles you're offered are beautiful and bitchy, ugly and nice or pretty and stupid. I've been lucky to stay away from that."

Even after appearing alongside Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro in Silver Linings Playbook and winning the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in the quirky comedy, Jennifer still doesn't consider herself a "star".

She said: "It's ridiculous, because I don't think of myself as a star. I saw this guy recently who's not even that famous, he's just in an ad on TV, and I almost had a heart attack."
