Joel Madden admits dagga bust

Los Angeles - Joel Madden hopes he "didn't cause too much drama" after dagga was found in his hotel room in Australia on Sunday.

The Good Charlotte rocker, who has two children, Harlow, 5, and Sparrow, 3, with his wife Nicole Richie, is grateful to police in Sydney for not pressing charges after he was kicked out of his hotel when a housekeeper uncovered a small amount of the drug in his room and reported it to law enforcement.

The 34-year-old singer, who is serving as a judge on Australia's version of The Voice, issued a statement on his Tumblr site on Tuesday, writing: "Sunday while I was at work, a hotel employee found a small amount of marijuana in my hotel room."

Police were called to the hotel

"The police were called and responded. Sydney is my adopted home and I appreciate the way the NSW police handled the situation. They have informed me there will be no charges. I hope this didn't cause too much drama for anyone."

Police were called to Joel's hotel room at approximately 16:30 on Sunday after a cleaner at the Darling Hotel inside the Sydney Star casino found less than 5g of the drug in his room, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

Officers arrived to search his room several hours later and the Like It's Her Birthday hitmaker was reportedly present at the time.

Case being investigated

The investigation is still ongoing but Joel will not be charged as Australian law permits authorities to issue a simple caution when only a small amount of drugs are found.

A spokesperson for the hotel confirmed that he was immediately asked to leave after the incident, saying: "He was not afforded any special treatment and he's moved out."
