Toronto - While out for a cigarette break on Thursday, John Malkovich rushed to the aid of a 77-year old man after he tripped and cut his throat on some scaffolding, reports Toronto Sun.
The man, Jim Walpole, was on holiday with his wife from Ohio and were returning to their hotel when the incident happened.
According to the Toronto Sun, a doorman saw the entire episode and recalled how Malkovich immediately went to Walpole and started applying pressure to the wound, not letting go until the ambulance arrived. He even comforted Walpole by saying he is going to be okay and dissuaded Walpole's fears about the hospital's healthcare.
No one at the scene realised who the mysterious "John" was because he left very quickly after the ambulance arrived, not wanting any attention drawn to himself.
The story however came out soon enough and he received extra admiration at Toronto's Elgin Theatre where Malkovich was performing in The Giacomo Variations.
