Jon Bon Jovi: Our family is good

Los Angeles - Jon Bon Jovi says his family is "good" after all charges against his daughter Stephanie Rose were dropped following her drug overdose.

Police were called after the 19-year-old student was found unresponsive in her dorm room at Hamilton College, Kirkland, New York in the early hours of 14 November.

Although she has now recovered, the rocker has admitted the incident was a huge "tragedy" but they are determined to get past it.

The 50-year-old musician told Fox 11 News in Los Angeles: "This tragedy was something that I had to face too, so we'll get through it. And people's incredible warm wishes for my family and I have been really reassuring. So, we're good."

The singer, who has been supporting the Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund along with fellow New Jersey native Bruce Springsteen, also opened up about the problems that come with being in the public eye.

Daughter not to face charges

"It's human. What I do for a living, it seems glitzy and glamorous but if you don't take it too seriously it's a great way to make a living. And then life goes on. Things happen," he said.

Jon and his wife Dorothea Hurley also have three sons: Jesse James, 17, Jacob Hurley, 10, and Romeo Jon, eight.

It was announced last week that Stephanie, who is now taking an extended break from college until January, and the male friend who was with her when she collapsed won't face any drug charges even though a small bag of heroin along with marijuana and other drug paraphernalia were reportedly discovered in her college dorm room.

The District Attorney dropped all charges because of a "New York law that specifically prohibits prosecution of people experiencing a drug overdose - as well as the people who help them seek medical care".
