Justin Bieber owes Germany for monkey

London - Justin Bieber reportedly owes thousands of euros after missing the deadline to collect his monkey.

The Beauty and the Beat hitmaker's pet Mally was seized at German customs in March and has since been held at an animal shelter in Munich - but it is set for a permanent move to either a zoo or park.

The monkey was taken from Justin after he couldn't provide the required vaccination and import papers when he tried to bring it into the country while on tour.

Slammed the star for only buying one

Heinz Joachim - the manager of the centre which has been housing Mally - insisted he would be pushing to get reimbursed for the cost of taking care of the 19-year-old singer's pet which amounts to several thousand euros.

He also slammed the star for only buying one, noting capuchin monkeys are social animals happier in groups.

He told the Associated Press: "The best thing would be not to buy one at all, but if you do, buy five ... You can bet we're going to ask for the money back."

Meanwhile Thomas Meister - a spokesperson for Munich customs - revealed they need contact with the monkey's owner before a final decision can be reached.

He added: "Our contact is the person that the monkey belongs to ... We've had contact with lots of people but none of them was an authorised representative."
