Justin Bieber tells racist joke in video

2014-06-01 17:26

Los Angeles - Justin Bieber is seen telling a racist joke in a controversial video which has surfaced online.

The Boyfriend hit maker appears in the clip joking with friends and uses the "N word" five times after asking them: ''Why are black people afraid of chainsaws?''

One friend repeatedly warns the pop star: ''Don't even say it. Don't say it,'' but he laughs and decides to deliver the punch-line, saying: ''Run n****r, n****r, n****r, n****r, n***r.''

A female friend, who cannot be seen, then tells him: ''You could say motorcycle too'', before making revving engine noises.

The 20-year-old singer is thought to have been 17 when the moment was captured on camera during filming for his first documentary Never Say Never in 2011.

According to The Sun on Sunday newspaper, Justin and his management have known about the video for a while and tried to pay for it to be kept out of the public eye.

A source said: ''This video is Justin Bieber and his camp's worst nightmare. Even after the year he's had - when he's never been far from controversy - this tops it.''

Justin was arrested in Miami in January and charged with driving under the influence (DUI), resisting arrest and possessing an invalid driver's licence and he was later accused of attempted robbery after a woman claimed he grabbed her mobile phone while she was trying to take a photograph of him.

The new video is likely to anger a number of African-American artists, who have helped him to become a global superstar and supported him throughout his career, including Usher, will.i.am and Will Smith.

The source continued: ''Justin has been taken under the wing by some of the best in the industry and they won't stand by him after this.

''This will be a real kick in the teeth - showing his true colours on film.

''He's made millions from working with musicians from all ethnic backgrounds. Having this attributed to him will do him no favours in the future.

''This could be the end of the road for him if artists refuse to work with him based on this. And it sets a seriously bad example to his impressionable young fans.''

For the first time I'm on his side... Why is this word always so controversial but when in a rap song it's OK... If a black person complains in this forum you can go f your self...

      John Greystoke - 2014-06-01 18:08

@Jean, so true! In Black films the N word is freely used but if a white man uses it then there is a outcry!

      Kusta Nyamende - 2014-06-01 18:13

Jean Tredoux I liked your comment right up until the third line.."if a black.."..you are an opportunist I guess ....

      JeanClaude Vandamme - 2014-06-01 18:38

you can't use it because that's what white ppl called their slave so its okay for blacks to call each other but if you use its like you see slaves_ you can't always have your way my friend those days are gone

      joe.dow.5203 - 2014-06-01 18:43

Jean, I totally agree with you. Anyway, what is the difference between a n....r and a black person? Where in the dictionary is it defined that n....r is a swear word or seen as offensive?

      Stephen Mulomba - 2014-06-01 18:51

@ Belamy con well said, white people never get it why black people use the word and yet call it racism when a white person uses it. The joke itself was a racist joke to start with. This is just another stupid kid not properly brought up and got rich so Jean best you go f your ignorant mind till its dead cause clearly you will never get it.

      Jean Tredoux - 2014-06-01 19:09

Strange how many blacks are commenting here... Clearly ready to pounce this article. I guess when you can use a word in an endearing way it is okay. Selective racism.

      El Matidor - 2014-06-01 19:18

Why would you want to use the n-word? Will your life be complete if you can go around calling people that? I'm black and i don't use that word.

      Vusi Dina - 2014-06-01 21:52

Well Jean take the advice go f your brain till its dead clearly you don't need it cause you don't use it

  • Bongani Nsele - 2014-06-01 18:04

  • jacqui.vanzweeden - 2014-06-01 20:15

He shouldnt have made that joke. Weather he is black or white makes no difference here. The joke was intended as a racist piece. Shows yoh his true colours. I dispise racism and its so sad that we see so much of it on a news forum but never face to face. Racists are cowards. They can only mention what they really feel behind a phone or PC screen. People are people, humans are human, .skin colour doesnt change the fact that we all deserve to be liked and loved and cared for and looked after. Everyone deserves a warm meal, soft bed and a roof over our heads.

B cos when a white man say those words it brings back apartheid memories

  • ReaperAJ - 2014-06-02 01:13

We could all just adopt the "sticks and stones" outlook and move forward, not bothering with small minded individuals who can't get through life without insulting others. There are many derogatory words used for white people, and to this day I don't know a single white person who gives a rats ass about them. They just don't care and carry on with life. It seems the easiest route to take; just ignore the idiots who use them. It is possible to rise above adversity and be the better person. It only sucks being a race if you're ashamed of it. So why let stupid names upset any of us? Bullies and racists only win when you let them get to you. Roll your eyes at their brain dead actions and get on with life. There are more important things to do than worry about a bunch of twits. Justin Bieber is most definitely a twit. I wish the media would stop paying attention to him, he doesn't deserve it.

  • Hans de Waal - 2014-06-02 07:47

I condemn using derogatory words / terms to describe a certain section of society. In the same manner when politicians call white people "boers" it is also a term used in a negative sense. I am caucasian- not white, if I was white I have either fallen in a vat of white paint or I am a ghost. So when I hear some people referring to people as boers or boere it just shows me that he/she is as racist as a far right wing member of society. It would seem that no amount of reconciliation will ever bring society together as long as people continue to pour fuel on the fire.
