Kim Kardashian on birth control at 14

Los Angeles - Kim Kardashian's mother put her on birth control at the age of 14.

The reality TV star had been dating her boyfriend at the time for two years and decided she wanted to lose her virginity to him, so her mum Kris Jenner decided she needed to take precautions so agreed for her to go on the contraceptive pill.

Kim - who is currently dating rapper Kanye West - told Oprah Winfrey: "When I did want to have sex the first time I was almost 15.

Sex tape

"I said to my mom, 'I think I'm going to, or I want to', and she was like, 'OK, so this is what we're gonna do, we're gonna put you on birth control.' She was, like, really open and honest with me."

Kim has become famous for her love life and in 2007 a sex tape featuring her and then-boyfriend Ray J was leaked onto the internet and eventually released as a DVD and while she admits it was hard to deal with at the time, she knows it helped propel her to stardom.

She said: "That's pretty much how I was introduced to the world. It was a negative way, so I feel like I had to work ten times harder to get people to see the real me."

The 31-year-old socialite has starred in several hit reality TV shows - including Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which she appears in with her mother and sisters Kourtney and Khloe - and has a number of business interests including her own signature fragrance.

      Her parents taught her well

What a sick world they live in! What kind of parent says Ok we're going to put you on birth control?? You would expect her mum to talk some sense into her as opposed to giving her permission to have sex. Western civilization is disgusting, pathetic and on a downward spiral.

It is a responsible mom to do that. what would you rather have? A pregnant daughter at 14 or an open relationship with your child? One way or another she was going to do it. I salute the mom for having the brains to be logical. And by the way western culture is not the culture promoting teenage marriage and polygomous marriages. Think before you type lest be considered an ignoramous.

It's great that she has such an amazing relationship with her mother. If only the mothers in our country would wake up and do the same we'd have much less issues relating to unwanted pregnancies, crime and the like. Birth control - whether you choose contraceptives or abstinence - should become less taboo and more embraced if we are to truly progress.

I agree that parents and children should have more open relationships. But according to your reasoning, we might as well have 8yr olds having sex. Because birth control is there right? wrong. What kind of a society would it be where young girls are taking birth control measures and having sex? It would be a sick, morally unstable society if you ask me.

And having an open relationship with your child does not mean permit a 15yr old to have sex. It means reasoning with the 15yr old why having sex at that age is not recommended. How do you know she was going to do it anyway? Were you her pimp? Don't assume boy. Would you let your baby daughter have sex when she is 14? If you would, then you are truly sick.

And who said anything about teenage and polygamous marriage?? We're talking about teenage sex, not marriage. You should think before YOU type instead of running your mouth, son. If you would rather let your child have sex at 15, birth control or no birth control, it clearly shows your morals!
