Lindsay's dad wants her to embrace religion

Los Angeles - Lindsay Lohan's father has hinted he would like her to "come to" Jesus.

Michael Lohan - whose actress daughter is in the final weeks of her 90-day court-ordered rehab stint - posted several cryptic Bible quotes on his Twitter account this morning, including a specific passage from Matthew 19:13-15 about parents helping their children embrace religion.

He tweeted: "Jesus said, 'Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.' (sic)"

In the Bible it is claimed Jesus was able to protect, guide and bless children, and parents would often bring their offspring to him because they feared the perils of the world around them would harm their kids.

The Biblical quote is an apparent reference to Lindsay's impending release from the Cliffside rehab centre in Malibu, California, and worries expressed by her friends and family that she may relapse into her wild-child ways.

Peace between father and daughter

Michael, 53, has had a tumultuous relationship with his 27-year-old daughter, but in yet more religious tweets, he appears to suggest reconciliation with the actress upon her release from treatment.

Posting two more quotes, Lindsay's father adopts the theme of "peace" and of nurturing yourself and your family.

He wrote: "Be evenly yoked in your beliefs and in your heart with the people in your life. And if you do, you will find peace, happiness and blessings

"Finding peace begins within heart, from there, God will help you with the rest (sic)."

Lindsay was forced to spend three months in rehab as part of a deal she struck to avoid jail after lying to police officers about driving in a car accident last year.
