Cape Town – Academy Award winning actress, Meryl Streep, revealed more details about her recent trip to South Africa during an interview on the Ellen Degeneres Show.

The 64-year-old actress filmed her latest movie, The Giver, in Cape Town during November and December last year and stayed at a luxury hotel in Camps Bay.

During the interview with Ellen, Meryl describes the atmosphere in the country shortly after the news of Nelson Mandela’s death was announced.

"We were there early December when Mandela died. It was interesting to be there at that moment when all the molecules shifted. You could really feel the grief because he was such a singular figure," Streep told Ellen.

She then described the family’s safari trip up north and shared a video she took during a game drive.
