Metro FM fires DJ Sbu

Cape Town - It’s been confirmed that DJ Sbu has been fired from his position at Metro FM.

The radio personality was slapped with a suspension notice about three weeks ago, after he landed in hot water for promoting his energy drink MoFaya at the Metro FM awards.

SABC spokesperson, Kaizer Kganyago confirmed DJ Sbu’s exit from the station.

"We can confirm he was given a letter during the week stating they are not going to negotiate a new contract with him. He will also not be on air for the remainder of his current contract," he told Sunday World.

DJ Sbu took to Instagram on Sunday in response to the axing:

By @therealbbking "Someone once said "in this world you've got to be yourself no matter what " but just know that there is a price to pay and the price tag is society....when you develop yourself and start believing in yourself look around you be very weary, concentrate and prepare to pay dues,The lord Jesus Christ came with unconventional wisdom and was put on the cross,Nelson spent 27 years in prison,Steve Biko got brutally assaulted,Robert Sobukwe was institutionalized to insanity,Michael Jackson was made a pedophile....society hate is a breed of people that fear what they don't understand fear what they cant conquer I guess its something that happens to even energy drink makers who make a small contribution to society..." via @PhotoRepost_app
