New York - Jake Gyllenhaal will make his Broadway début later this year with a work by a playwright he's come to admire.

The Manhattan Theatre Club said Thursday the Brokeback Mountain star will appear in Nick Payne's Constellations, which has been a hit in London. Previews begin 16 December at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre and will be directed by Michael Longhurst.

Gyllenhaal, who appeared in a revival of Kenneth Lonergan's This Is Our Youth in London in 2002, made his New York stage appearance in 2012 in Payne's If There Is I Haven't Found It Yet, which also was directed by Longhurst.
