Nude Harry pics raise security questions

London - They were embarrassing, silly, and raunchy. But were they a security breach?

A day after nude photographs of Prince Harry ricocheted across the internet, security experts are wondering whether the protection officers assigned to keep the 27-year-old royal safe from harm might have done a better job of keeping him out of trouble.

UK taxpayers spend tens of millions of pounds to keep the royal family safe, so photos of the third-in-line to the throne romping naked in a foreign country raised questions about security.

Former top royal bodyguard Dai Davies says the party-loving royal may have put his protection officers in a difficult position by insisting on inviting guests back to his hotel room.

But he says that sometimes, protection officers have to "protect the principal from himself".
