Olivia Culpo almost passed out on the Emmys red carpet

Los Angeles - Olivia Culpo almost passed out from the heat on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards on Sunday night.

The 23-year-old model was overcome by the sweltering temperature at Los Angeles' Microsoft Center when she stopped to chat to reporters, and had to seek medical assistance.

She tweeted: "OMG it is SO HOT out here. Literally just almost passed out #Emmys2015 #ERedCarpet (sic)"

She later posted a photo of herself in a wheelchair being escorted by paramedics who were on site to help with the scorching 106 degree weather.

Alongside the image she wrote: "When u almost pass out on LIVE TV! @GiulianaRancic @helloross @mrbradgoreski its ok I know u would have caught me (sic)"

Meanwhile, Trainwreck star Amy Schumer tried to keep her cool by bringing a a mini handheld fan to the prestigious event, as did Laverne Cox, Jaimie Alexander and Cat Deeley.

Sarah Hyland and Sofia Vergara also did their best to stop sweltering in the heat.

The Modern Family actress compared the weather to being a "lizard in the desert", while  Hot Pursuit's Sofia simply said: "I'm dying already (sic)!"

However, Mom actress Alison Janney could see the benefits of the hot weather.

She quipped: "It's terrible. It's just a cruel joke to get us all dressed up and walk down like this. But, on the plus side, I think I've lost a few pounds. It's the Bikram Emmys."

Mario Lopez suffered the worst as he was forced to change his shirt more than once...
