Los Angeles - Channing Tatum has asked the public to help him locate his lost backpack.

The Magic Mike star took to his Twitter account to beg his followers for help finding the bag after he accidentally left the rucksack in a taxi in New York City on Saturday.

He then shared an e-mail address where people could send him information about the backpack's whereabouts.

The 34-year-old actor was quickly inundated with tweets from hopeful ladies joking about finding the bag:

However, Allan Fromberg, a spokesperson from New York City's The Taxi and Limousine Commission also offered the star some helpful advice to aid him in retracing his property, although they insisted his celebrity status wouldn't allow him any special treatment.

He told the New York Daily News newspaper: "I would encourage him to remain optimistic. We've been able to to help people in the past."

Fear not though as the Step Up actor was finally reunited with his black back pack and thank the "good Samaritan" for finding it.
