Royals slam mag for Kate baby bump pics

London - Britain's royal family on Tuesday expressed disappointment after an Italian magazine said it would print paparazzi pictures of Prince William's wife Kate showing her pregnant belly.

St James's Palace said the move by Chi magazine, which is owned by former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, breached the royal couple's right to privacy.

"We are disappointed that photographs of the Duke and Duchess on a private holiday look likely to be published overseas," a St James's Palace spokesperson said in a statement to AFP.

"This is a clear breach of the couple's right to privacy."

Legal action

A preview of the cover of Chi magazine, shown on the website of its publisher Mondadori, shows Kate and William in swimwear on a beach on the holiday island of Mustique.

Over a picture of the former Kate Middleton in a blue bikini walking through shallow waters, the headline says: "The belly grows."

The couple are expecting their first child in July. Kate, 31, was admitted to hospital in December with severe morning sickness but is now said to be recovering.

Britain's royal family launched legal action last year against French magazine Closer over topless paparazzi pictures of Kate sunbathing in bikini bottoms on the balcony of a chateau in France.

@tuco: I am no royalist, but they at least work and have real jobs. Not like our 'royals' in SA. And if you do not care mossie.geldenhuys, do not read these pages.

I wish they could get over themselves! First she stands topless 150m away from a public road, and the royal family gets upset that pictures were taken. And now the world knows she is pregnant, because it made world news that she was more nauseous than an African elephant on a fishing trawler, and the royal family again is upset that a photo of het tummy will be published? I do not believe in royalty. I think leadership can come from any sphere of life. And what we need on earth is leadership and not overly sensitive pomy's

my, my Larry. You are upset! her naked pics were taken from a vessel very far from where whe was and they were on a private island looking for privacy when the latest were taken.

As if they didn't want pictures to be taken.

      bibi.vanzyl - 2013-02-13 10:27

Really? These are not SA socialites or Hollywood stars. They went to a private island for privacy.
