TV personality almost died giving birth

London - Amanda Holden almost died giving birth to her daughter.

The Britain's Got Talent judge was left in a critical condition and underwent several blood transfusions, while little Hollie Rose - who was born on Monday - was put on a respirator.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Amanda lost several pints of blood and had to have a number of transfusions. Hollie could not breathe.

"For a while both were fighting for life. Thankfully Hollie is now out of the woods and Amanda is recovering too."

Amanda, 40, is now in a stable condition and looking forward to returning home to husband Chris Hughes and introducing Hollie to her older sister Lexi, six.

'Touch and go'

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "It has been a really terrible time since the birth and Amanda's been in a really bad way. It was touch and go at one point.

"She has only just begun to recover and so work and everything else is of no concern. We just want her to get better and to spend some time with Hollie."

A spokesperson for Amanda said she is expected to recover "very soon".

The representative said: "Amanda has been in a critical condition for the past three days.

"She is now stable and we expect her to make a full recovery very soon.

"Until Amanda is in a position to indicate what she wants to say, there's no more information I can give."
