Tom Cruise 'has telepathic powers'

Los Angeles - The Church Of Scientology believes it's most famous devotee Tom Cruise has telekinetic and telepathic powers, according to reports.

According to a 2006 investigation by Rolling Stone magazine, 50-year-old Tom had reached an advanced level of Scientology and was known as an "Operating Thetan" or an "OT".

Janet Reitman, the author of the report, explained that OTs "have total control over themselves and their environment".

Tom's involvement in the exclusive religion has been at the core of his recent split from Katie Holmes, 33, who filed for divorce from the Mission: Impossible star on 29 June.

The couple have reportedly been split over how to raise their six-year-old daughter Suri, with Tom reportedly keen to enrol her in an elite Scientology school.

Some bizarre details of the Scientology church's beliefs have emerged since news of the split broke, though much about the church and its practices are closely guarded.

Tom, who is believed to be at the advanced stage of OT VII, has practised the religion for 30 years, reports the Daily Mail, and has therefore reached an esoteric state of enlightenment after travelling what is known as the Bridge to Total Freedom.

"OTs can allegedly move inanimate objects with their minds, leave their bodies at will and telepathically communicate with, and control the behaviour of, both animals and human beings," writes Reitman.

"At the highest levels, they are allegedly liberated from the physical universe, to the point where they can psychically control what Scientologists call MEST: Matter, Energy, Space and Time."

Nancy Meny, who worked with celebrities at Scientology's Sea Organization, revealed to Radar Online that Tom was manipulated into joining the religion.

"I knew some of the people who kid-gloved him into becoming a member," she said. "Everything was orchestrated and orientated. Tom has a problem reading so they don’t have him doing the course on his own and paired him up one-on-one.

"The level of manipulation is unbelievable, it is like [Jim Carrey movie] The Truman Show."

Expensive gifts

Tom is also best friends with Scientology leader David Miscavige. A 2005 leaked memo from Marty Rathbun, a former high-ranking Scientologist who left the church in 2004,
revealed that the church showered Tom with expensive gifts.

One such gift was a luxury coach called Silver Screen. Tom allegedly demanded that it was fitted with a drawer to keep slippers in so people don't walk on the carpet with dirty shoes.

The memo states: "He (Cruise) requested that a space be figured out for placement of slippers in the front of Silver Screen as he doesn't want shoes on the carpet."

Tom also insisted that no-one other than his personal assistants enter the bus, and that Miscavige, referred to in the memo as Chairman of the Board (COB), should be the first person to enter the vehicle.

As well as the Silver Screen bus, Tom is also believed to have received a selection of personalised motorbikes, and an aircraft hanger complete with a luxurious office, from the church.

Tom and Katie finalised their divorce agreement on Monday in a confidential deal that prevented any personal or embarrassing details about the actor's life from being revealed. The couple also agreed to honour each other's beliefs over their daughter, who will remain in the primary care of her mother.

Katie has since rejoined the Catholic Church.
