Tom Cruise's son backs him in divorce

Los Angeles - Connor Cruise is backing his father Tom Cruise in his divorce battle.

The aspiring DJ - who the actor adopted with second wife Nicole Kidman - retweeted a message on Twitter stating that family is the most important thing, in an apparent dig at Tom's estranged spouse Katie Holmes, who filed for divorce on Friday after five years of marriage.

The tweet read "#LaFamilia? Always. Friends Come And Go, But Family Is Forever (sic)."

This is the first time Connor - who recently visited his father on the set of movie Oblivion  in Iceland - has made any public reference to the split.

Dawson's Creek  reunion movie

Meanwhile, it has been claimed Tom - who turned 50 on Tuesday - stopped Katie from signing up to a Dawson's Creek  reunion movie with former boyfriend Joshua Jackson.

A source told "(Producers) were begging her to sign on for a reunion movie. Tom said absolutely no way and thought going backward would be bad.

"Katie didn't care how 'low-brow' he thinks Dawson's Creek is. She wanted to do the movie and reconnect with her fans. And have fun - something she rarely does anymore."

It was recently revealed Katie reportedly fired her security team because they were too close to her estranged husband.

The bodyguard and driver - who worked for Tom before he met his third wife - were last seen with Katie on 26 June but have not been spotted with her since.

It is not known if they are affiliated with Scientology, the religion which is believed to be the reason behind Katie's decision to leave Tom as she feared he wanted to send their six-year-old daughter Suri to a boot camp for the cult.

I fail to see how stating that 'family is forever' means that Connor Cruise is backing his father.

I agree with you. I dont see his son backing him up with that statement at all. And who does his son doesnt even stay with him so I fail to see how any of his remarks would count in favour of his father? I'm glad to see Katie finally grew up and wasnt going to be manipulated anymore.

Sorry Connor. As you grow up you will learn that family is not necessarily forever. Dream on.
