Alicia Vikander recalls the moment Julianne Moore stood up for her

Cape Town – Alicia Vikander has recalled a moment she will never forget – the moment fellow actress Julianne Moore defended her against a man in power.

In a new interview with Vogue magazine, the 29-year-old shared the story of how Julianne Moore came to her defense after an unnamed man in a position of power made a joke at her expense on the set of the 2014 fantasy film Seventh Son.

“I was really embarrassed, and I would have just laughed it off. But Julianne turned to him and said, ‘If you ever do that again, I’m walking out of here and I’m not coming back,’” Alicia recalls.

Alicia added that seeing Julianne stand up for her showed her that she does have power and that it “meant so much” to her.

“She was just, like, Don’t you fucking say that again. It showed me that she had the power. And that meant so much to me.”

Following that moment, Alicia has joined forces with the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Natalie Portman and Meryl Streep in promoting Time’s Up and #MeToo initiatives.
