An egg dethrones Kylie Jenner’s most-liked Instagram post

Cape Town – Kylie Jenner’s announcement of the birth of her daughter has been replaced as the most-liked post on Instagram.

A photo of an egg - literally just an egg with a white background - received over 23 million likes on Sunday, beating the first glimpse of Stormi which now has just over 18 million likes.

Los Angeles - Kylie Jenner is the new queen of Instagram. The reality star's baby-name announcement became the most popular post on the social media site on Wednesday, surpassing Beyoncé's pregnancy announcement of 2017. Jenner shared a photo on Tuesday of her new daughter's tiny hand captioned with the baby's name, Stormi Webster.

The image was shared by the account world_record_egg – which, according to TMZ, was created earlier this month – on Friday, 4 January.

The account’s bio reads: “Official world record holders of the most liked picture on Instagram. Now where’s our blue tick?”

In response to their achieved goal, the ‘Egg Gang’ shared a note on IG Stories that said: “This is madness. What a time to be alive. Thank you all so much for your support and messages. I’m gonna try and get back to as many of you as possible. But for now I need to sleep.

“It doesn’t end here though, we’re only just getting started. #EggGang”

In response to the viral egg image dethroning her, Kylie shared a resurfaced video in which she cracks and egg on a hot tar road.

“Take that little egg,” she captioned the post.
