Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's wedding officiant reportedly presiding over divorce

Cape Town - The judge who married Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has been granted permission to preside over the former couple's divorce battle.

According to reports, retired California judge John Ouderkirk has been working with Pitt and Jolie since the Maleficent actress filed for divorce in September 2016 and will oversee the private custody case - which is set to commence on 4 December.

Ouderkirk officiated the former couple's wedding on 23 August 2014 in France.

This comes after it was reported that Pitt, 54, and Jolie, 43, are hoping to come up with an agreement before the trial date.

According to Us Weekly, Pitt made a desperate plea to Jolie for them to settle their custody battle out of court for the sake of their six children.

A source told the outlet: "He reached out hoping to persuade Angie that the hearing will cause lasting psychological damage to their children."
