Cape Town – Brad Pitt recently opened up in Interview magazine about the "mistakes" he's made and how he's changed because of it.

In discussion with Anthony Hopkins, he talks about society's tendency to judge and dispose of people. "We've always placed great importance on the mistake," he said. "But the next move, what you do after the mistake, is what really defines a person. We're all going to make mistakes. But what is the next step? We don't, as a culture, seem to stick around to see what that person's next step is. And that's the part I find so much more invigorating and interesting."

The actor was married to Angelina Jolie with whom he shares Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne. The couple had a very public split in 2016 after being married for two years and spending 12 years together. Earlier this year, he also opened up about his struggle with alcoholism.

Speaking to The Silence of the Lambs star, the actor said he used alcohol as an "escape", he's "not proud" of it and "still wrestling" with it.

"I'm human. We're human, we want purpose, we want meaning in our lives. But to attain that, the key is two things: staying creative and being with the people you love."

Angelina Jolie recently opened up about life after the couple's divorce as well. "My body has been through a lot over the past decade, particularly the past four years, and I have both the visible and invisible scars to show for it," she said.
