Cape Town - Michael Bublé says he’s "been to hell" while his young son was battling cancer.

The 42-year old Canadian singer and his wife, actress Luisana Lopilato (31), were left devastated when their son, Noah (5), was diagnosed with liver cancer back in 2016, which the couple disclosed in a Facebook post.

Luckily the youngster was confirmed to be making a recovery towards the end of 2017, after 18 months of treatment.

Both Michael and Luisana have put their careers on hold to focus on Noah's health.

Speaking to Australia’s Herald Sun newspaper, the singer said: "We’re so grateful to report that our son Noah has been progressing well during his treatment and the doctors are very optimistic about the future for our little boy.

"He’s been brave throughout and we continue to be inspired by his courage. We thank God for the strength he’s given all of us."

Despite the ordeal the family have been through, Michael says his son's cancer battle has put things into a new perspective for him.

"I live with a perspective that I just didn't have before and it allows me to have no fear. Perspective has allowed me to rekindle my love of music."

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Michael says he felt like he was in hell during his son's cancer battle but the ordeal has taught him to look at life differently.

"I don’t talk about the whole story, not even to my friends, because it hurts too much," he said. "It’s my boy. He’s a superhero. He doesn’t need to relive it over and over again.

"But I’ve been to hell. And you know what, hell seems like a really nice place to vacation compared to where we’ve been."

He added: "I truly thought I'd never come back to music. Family is what matters. The health of my children is number one. The relationship with my family, my wife, my faith – all of it is easily number one.

"That clarity gave me the opportunity to find love for music again. I'm going to go back to what I was made to do. I'm going to come back to a world that needs love and romance and laughter more than it has in a long time. I'm going to be a conduit. This is the greatest record I've ever made."

And now, Michael said, he’ll start enjoying life more.

He told Entertainment Tonight Canada: "Emotionally, it's a roller-coaster. I think life sort of teaches you these hard lessons sometimes.

"Part of that lesson is that it allowed me to really have perspective, and to really enjoy more than I ever have in my life. I enjoy the small things."

US magazine recently reported that Michael and Luisana are expecting their third child. It’s been reported their third child will be a girl.
