Cape Town - Coldplay frontman Chris Martin reveals he almost embarrassed his daughter Apple at work.

Chris recently appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and shared a sweet story about his daughter Apple.

The singer recounted how his 15-year-old daughter from his first marriage to Gwyneth Paltrow, was horrified when he showed up to her work unannounced, reports People.

“My daughter works in a clothing store. It’s her first job and she’s about to be 16 and I’m so proud of her,” Chris says.

“She’s, you know, making her way in the world. And I didn’t tell her but I … went to see her and I thought I better buy something.”

According to Yahoo News, the Paradise singer then shared how he grabbed a shirt from one of the clothing racks and got in line to check out at on of the two tills, when Apple spotted him.

“Dad get out!” she mouthed angrily.

The story gets even better.

“I felt terrible and so I moved to the other line, holding my T-shirt really scared of my daughter and I paid for the T-shirt and I had bought her some fudge … that she loves, so I said to the lady can you just give this to my daughter,” he continued.

“And as I was leaving, she shouted ‘I love you dad!’”

During the show Ellen decided to turn the tables and give the Coldplay frontman a taste of his own medicine by playing a video of a very young Chris, reports DailyMail.

The video was recorded in 1998, two years before the band's debut album was released.

Chris can be heard proclaiming that Coldplay would be huge.

“This is the worst day of my life,” an embarrassed Chris joked, with Ellen humorously adding just how right he was, since the band went on to earn international success.
