Cosmopolitan South Africa makes history with Laverne Cox cover

Cape Town – Cosmopolitan SA is making history with their February cover girl, Laverne Cox.

The Orange is the New Black star is the first transgender woman to appear on the cover of a Cosmopolitan magazine, globally, as well as any mainstream African magazine and does so looking sexy and fierce.

Along with making history, Cosmo SA’s #SayYesToLove edition is also celebrating Valentine’s Day by embracing queer, gay, lesbian, non-binary, trans, and non-conforming love.

“Trans women deserve to be loved out in the open and in the light. Your voice matters, the truth of who you know yourselves to be matters. The truth will set you free!” Laverne said in an exclusive interview with the SA magazine.

Following the release of the historical cover the world took to Twitter to celebrate the an ode to love in all its shapes, forms and textures.

Local and international celebrities and organisations congratulated Cosmo SA on social media for its #SayYesToLove campaign.
