Cape Town - Demi Lovato had a stone-cold response for a fan who insinuated she had fallen off the wagon.

Last week the 25-year-old singer was in Hollywood to celebrate Hayley Kiyoko’s new album release, where the Sorry Not Sorry singer was joined by her fellow former Disney stars Cole Sprouse, Matthew Scott Montgomery, Debbie Ryan and Alyson Stoner.

According to E! Online, a photo of their reunion soon went viral.

But one follower spotted a glass containing a yellow substance in Demi’s hand.

“I’m not tryna question Demi’s sobriety bc I have a lot of respect for her,” the follower wrote.

“It just seems weird that her best friends post this pic with it shaded and then Hayley who isn’t really that close to Demi posts the one where you can see what she’s holding?? Like tf is going on.”

The actress, who is currently on her Tell Me You Love Me tour, noticed the comment and quickly fired back.

“I don’t have to defend anything, but it was Red Bull,” she replied.

Demi has long been vocal about her long struggle with addiction and treatment for bipolar disorder, bulimia, self-harm, and substance abuse, reports People.

In her documentary, Simply Complicated, which was released last year October, the singer opened up about her addiction.

“My dad was an addict and an alcoholic. Guess I always searched for what he found in drugs and alcohol because it fulfilled him and he chose that over a family.”

“I was using while I had a sober companion and I went through like 20 sober companions. I was either craving drugs or on drugs. I was not easy to work with. It's embarrassing to look back at the person that I was,” she added.

Last month Demi celebrated six years of sobriety with her fans during her concert in New York, reports Daily Mail.

"Yesterday was a really big day for me," Demi said at the time.

"Yesterday, six years ago, I was drinking vodka out of a Sprite bottle at nine in the morning, throwing up in the car and I just remember thinking, 'This is no longer cute. This is no longer fun. And I'm just like my dad.' So I made changes in my life."
