Cape Town - Singer Demi Lovato has been sober for three months, according to her proud mom, Dianna De La Garza.
In an interview with TV presenter Maria Menounos on her podcast show, Sirius XM, the 56-year-old spoke about the Solo hitmaker being in rehab after her apparent overdose in July, The Hollywood Reporter writes.
“She has 90 days,” Dianna said.
“I couldn’t be more thankful or more proud of her because addiction being a disease, it’s work. It’s very hard. It’s not easy, and there are no shortcuts,” she continued.
Dianna added that she knew her daughter wasn’t sober, but didn’t know what she was doing since the 26-year-old doesn’t live her, USA Today writes.
“I can honestly say I didn’t know what an opioid was at that time. We’ve all heard the word but I didn’t know anything about it until I started researching,” she said.
Demi was rushed to hospital on 24 July after what was widely presumed to be a drug overdose. Dianna found out about the terrible news via text, TMZ reports.
“I was looking at my phone and I saw all these text messages coming in . . . and the one text message that clued me in on what was going on said, ‘I just saw on TMZ and I’m so sorry,’” she revealed.
