Cape Town - While the world reels from the shock of Demi Lovato’s reported drug overdose, her ex-boyfriend actor Wilmer Valderrama (38) is said to be “completely devestated”.

Speaking to US Weekly, a source told the publication: “Wilmer is completely devastated. He still loves Demi and it was just a matter of scheduling and time that they needed to make a romantic relationship work.”

The couple dated from 2010 to 2016 and split due to their busy schedules but remained friends after their break-up, Daily Mail reports.

“She’s been honest with him about her relapse, as she has with her family, friends, fans and the entire public, especially with her new song,” the source continued.

“But he didn’t think it was this severe, that she’d be struggling so much and have a situation [with] these repercussions.”

According to US Weekly, Demi was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after a reported drug overdose. The Sorry Not Sorry hitmaker was found unconscious in her Hollywood home.

The source added it was Demi’s friends who saved her life with Narcan, an emergency medication used to treat opioid overdoses.

“One of her friends had Narcan on hand in case something like this happened. Her friends knew this was coming because she’s been using so much again.”
