Ellen DeGeneres' massive 60th birthday celebration – including Portia’s heartfelt gift

Cape Town – Our favourite daytime talk show host/activist/badass celebrated her 60th birthday the only way she knows how – with a super-special, A-list-filled show!

ICYMI, Ellen DeGeneres turned 60 on Friday, 26 January and of course she is still celebrating!

The animal lover’s birthday special included surprise guests, a bunch of A-list celebrities and most importantly her beautiful wife, Portia de Rossi.

During Portia’s appearance the Scandal actress gifted her wife with a one in a million gift – Ellen’s own namesake gorilla conservation centre.

“It's your 60th birthday and this gift had to be really special and it had to represent who you are and what you really care about,” Portia explained to Ellen.

“Not just now, but what you've always cared about. What you were influenced by and what has made you the amazing person that you are today. So, I combined that and questions when we first met like who's your idol? And what would you do if you weren't a talk show host?”

Portia continued, adding that she combined all those things as well as Ellen’s absolute love for Dian Fossey’s dedication to animals.

The donation to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund will create a permanent home in Rwanda for the organisation that has been protecting endangered mountain gorillas for 50 years.

Portia also set up a foundation called The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund which will enable Ellen to raise funds and awareness for any wildlife initiative she wants to.
