Fan shares last possible selfie with Kobe Bryant, recalls him saying, 'We'll get a better pic tomorrow'

Cape Town – The world is in mourning after learning of the tragic death of Kobe Bryant on Sunday.

The NBA legend was on his way to his daughter's basketball game when his helicopter crashed in Calabasas, California. His 13-year-old daughter, Gianni, and seven others also died in the accident.

"We are struggling. Kobe was such a presence in our little community of Newbury Park. My boys don't know how to process this," Dionne Reich Smigiel told CNN.

Dionne and her family, including her twin sons Brady and Beau, went to see Kobe at the Mamba Sports Academy where he was coaching his daughter and her team the Saturday evening before the accident. That night, Brady managed to get a blurry picture with his idol, not knowing it would be his last.

According to Dionne and referring to the team's first game, Brady told her, "Kobe was 'mad they lost' and wouldn't take a pic but gave him knuckles."

Later, Brady got a second chance to snap a photo with Kobe. Unfortunately, it came out blurry.

"Kobe said, 'We'll get a better pic tomorrow'," Dionne said.
