Speaking to TMZ, police officials revealed they’d been called to her home at around 21:30 and found the 40-year-old unresponsive in her car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Although Josie had been in the process of suing Mayweather for $20 million (about R328 million) after she said he lied during an interview with Katie Couric about her being high on drugs during an alleged domestic violence incident in 2010, police said they didn’t suspect foul play with regards to her death.

Mayweather had been convicted for attacking her and spent two months in prison for the incident, TMZ reports.

The two were together from 1995 to 2010.
