From Namibia and Barbados to Kazakhstan: Miss Universe contestants competing for the title

Johannesburg – The countdown to the 68th Miss Universe pageant is underway, and as with the years before, the competition is stiff.

The Miss Universe Organisation on Wednesday introduced fans to some of the contestants who will be taking part in the show, including South Africa's very own Zozibini Tunzi.

So far, no announcements have been made regarding the date and venue for the pageant.

In 2018, Catriona Gray from the Philippines took the crown home, with SA's Tamaryn Green taking second place on the night.

South Africa has been a firm favourite in the pageant world, and many fans have predicted a high ranking for Zozibini in this year's competition.

Should Zozibini bring home the crown, she will become only the third South African to do so after Margaret Gardiner in 1978 and Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters in 2017.
