Halle Berry and Mariah Carey rocked by Los Angeles Earthquake

Cape Town - Halle Berry, Mariah Carey, La Toya Jackson and Ava Duvernay's Independence Day celebrations got off to a rocky start on Thursday after an earthquake struck Southern California.

The earthquake was centered near Ridgecrest, north of Los Angeles and it was the strongest to hit Southern California in nearly 20 years, prompting one city's mayor and later the governor to declare a state of emergency for the area.

Ava tweeted about the natural event, saying: "Been living in Los Angeles all my life. That was the longest earthquake I’ve ever experienced,".

Iconic singer Mariah Carey then retweeted Ava's post adding: "I was like... Do I roll out of bed and get to the doorway? I'm from New York, I can't handle this!".

Halle Berry also retweeted Ava's post saying: "That was crazy!!".
