Cape Town - The #MeToo movement has seen a number of US celebrities tell their stories of sexual assault in the entertainment industry and Jennifer Lopez is the latest star to share her story.

During an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the Shades of Blue star revealed how she was once harassed by a film director during one of her first movies.

“I haven't been abused in the way some women have,” she told the publication. “But have I been told by a director to take off my shirt and show my boobs? Yes, I have. But did I do it? No, I did not” she explained.

According to BET, the singer and actress previously commented on the movement without elaborating on her own experience.

“When I did speak up, I was terrified. I remember my heart beating out of my chest, thinking, ‘What did I do? This man is hiring me!’ It was one of my first movies,” she said.

Although J-Lo was “terrified” during the incident, she knew it was wrong.

“But in my mind I knew the behaviour wasn’t right. It could have gone either way for me. But I think ultimately the Bronx in me was like, 'Nah, we’re not having it.’”

Jennifer Lopez joins other stars, such as Lady Gaga, Gwyneth Paltrow and Gabrielle Union, who have spoken out about their sexual assault experiences.
