Over the past week, many citizens in the US have come out to protest the senseless murder of George Floyd.
On 25 May, the 46-year-old black male was apprehended by the police. He died shortly after one of the officers, Derek Chauvin, held him down on the ground, with his knee on his neck. The four officers involved have since been fired from the Minneapolis Police Department and Derek Chauvin has been charged with murder.
Singer, Halsey, and Insecure actor, Kendrick Sampson, were some of the many celebs who joined the Black Lives Matter protests over the weekend, while Taylor Swift hit out at Donald Trump for suggesting it's okay to shoot protestors and "stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism".

Chrissy Teigen also stood by protestors, pledging $200 000 (R3.5 million) to bail them out should they get arrested.
According to E! News so too did Steve Carell, Ben Schwartz, Seth Rogen, Kehlani and Janelle Monáe. They all donated money to various nonprofits, including the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which helps pay bail for individuals who aren't financially able to do so.
Many other stars have also used their platforms to speak out. LeBron James, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Harry Styles, Jamie Foxx, Reese Witherspoon and Oprah have all shared posts on social media, urging people to seek justice.
Beyoncé shared a powerful video on Instagram on Sunday saying: "We need justice for George Floyd. We all witnessed his murder in broad daylight. We're broken and we're disgusted. We cannot normalise this pain. I'm not only speaking to people of colour, if you're white, black, brown, or anything in between, I'm sure you feel hopeless by the racism going on in America right now. No more senseless killings of human beings. No more seeing people of colour as less than human. We can no longer look away."
