Cape Town – Surprise! Hilary Swank is married!
According to a statement shared with E! News, the Million Dollar Baby star secretly married her social venture entrepreneur boyfriend, Philip Schneider at Saint Lucia Preserve in Carmel, California over the weekend.
The couple began dating in 2016 after Hilary called off her engagement to former pro tennis player, Ruben Torres. Philip proposed while on vacation in Colorado after a year-and-a-half of dating.
Speaking to Vogue magazine, Hilary shared every tiny detail that went into planning her special day.
THE CEREMONY
The couple decided on their location due to the fact that they love the outdoors and it was close enough for her father – who received a lung transplant 3 years ago, and as a result, can’t fly – to attend and walk her down the aisle.
Hilary’s wedding gown was designed by Elie Saab Haute Couture Atelier and reportedly took 150 hours to create, of which 70 hours were focused exclusively on embroidery.
“I’ve loved Elie Saab for years and was thrilled to have him design my dress,” Hilary said of choosing her dressmaker, adding: “I wanted something romantic… and he delivered, designing something that far surpassed my greatest expectations. It was everything I imagined and more.”
Speaking about the entire experience, Hilary told Vogue: “I was overwhelmed with such gratitude and thanks to be marrying the man of my dreams and to see all the people we love together in the middle of such a profound setting.”
THE RECEPTION
Hilary and Philip’s reception, planned by Allison Weddings, took place in a 100-year-old barn that was decorated with globe string lights, candles and low floral arrangements.
Guests dined on spinach and kale salads, salmon with tzatziki sauce, roasted beef tenderloin with chimichurri sauce, and vegan grilled cauliflower steak with pesto sauce. Dessert was a decadent gluten-free and vegan cake.
Later the couple entertained their guests with a tap dance choreographed to Moby’s In My Heart.
“We had fun, and our family and friends seemed to enjoy it.”
