Cape Town - Jada Pinkett Smith had an emotional conversation with hubby Will Smith’s ex-wife.

The 46-year-old actress got very personal in the premiere episode of her talk show on Facebook Watch, Red Table Talk – by having Will Smith’s ex-wife, Sheree Fletcher, as her very first guest.

The two sat down and got candid about the difficult times they faced raising a blended family.

“Because I didn’t understand marriage, I didn’t understand divorce, I probably should’ve fell back,” Pinkett Smith admits at one stage during the interview, referring to the fact that she and Will had started dating before he’d divorced Sheree.

“You think?” Sheree jokingly responds.

According to People magazine, Will and Jada started dating while he was still married to Sheree, with whom he has a son, Trey, who was 3 years old at the time.

The two women also reflected on the painful memory of when little Trey first met the star of Girls Trip and Gotham.

“So Trey comes home and I said, ‘How did you like Miss Jada?’” Sheree recalls. “‘I really liked her, Mommy.’” At this point Jada starts tearing up and Sheree reaches for her and says, “Thank you for loving my baby.”

Jada, a mom of two, also revealed the important reason why she invited Will’s ex-wife to be the first guest on her show, which streams every Monday on Facebook.

“I thought it was important to have that conversation because she was my entry point to motherhood.

“I was co-mothering with her. At that particular time, before it [having a blended family] was popular, before it was even an idea, we were trying to create something that we’d never experienced,” she says.

Will and Jada, who are also parents to Jaden (19) and Willow (17), celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in December last year. The two marked the occasion by posting a throwback picture from their wedding day on Instagram.
