Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter regains consciousness

Cape Town – Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter, Maddie Aldridge, has regained consciousness.

E! News reports the youngster is making progress in her recovery after a very serious ATV accident on Sunday.

A family rep released a statement that said: "With her father, mother and stepfather by her side, Maddie regained consciousness mid-day Tuesday, February 7. The 8-year-old daughter of entertainer Jamie Lynn Spears was involved in an ATV accident at a family home Sunday in Kentwood, La. Paramedics resuscitated her and she was airlifted to a local hospital. She is aware of her surroundings and recognizes those family members who have kept a round-the-clock vigil since the accident."

Maddie’s stepfather, Jamie Watson, also confirmed that the 8-year-old is recovering well on his social media. He wrote on Instagram: "Thank you to everyone for the prayers. Maddie is doing better and better."

Maddie was submerged underwater for several minutes after her ATV flipped over into a pond.

Jamie Lynn and Jamie were on the scene but could not reach the 8-year-old as she was reportedly trapped in her seat belt.

Paramedics arrived within two minutes and rescued her.
