Cape Town - While being an A-lister may come with a lot of benefits, it also comes with a lot of restrictions, which sometimes includes not being able to post a picture of yourself that is often taken involuntarily.

According to E! News, singer and actress, Jennifer Lopez is being sued $150 000 (about R2 273 000) by paparazzi company, Splash News for copyright infringement over a picture she posted on Instagram in 2017 of herself and her fiancé, Alex Rodriguez.

In court documents obtained by the publication, the paparazzi company claimed to be the owners and copyright holders of the picture which shows JLo and her man holding hands while in New York City.

"Plaintiff never licensed the Photograph to defendant. Nevertheless, Lopez used it without authorization or permission from plaintiff to do so. Specifically, Lopez or someone acting on her behalf copied the Photograph and distributed it on Instagram, via the @jlo account, on a story posted November 7, 2017," the documents stated.

It is not the first time this year that the singer has found herself in a similar situation. In April, The Blast reported that JLo was demanding that a lawsuit that was being filed against her by photographer, Michael Stewart be thrown out of court. The photographer had accused the star of using a picture of herself, which was taken by him, on her Instagram page.

Other celebs who have found themselves in a similar situation include Blac Chyna, Ariana Grande as well as model Gigi Hadid, who were all slapped with copyright infringement lawsuits after posting pictures of themselves which were taken by paparazzi.
