Cape Town - Wrestlers John Cena and Nikki Bella have announced they are separating after six years together.
A rep for the couple said in a statement: “After much contemplation and six years of being together Nikki Bella and John Cena announced today their decision to separate as a couple.”
John, 40, and Nikki, 34, later confirmed the split on Twitter and in a joint statement to E! News, saying: “While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.”

The wrestling couple started dating in 2012 and shared the trials and tribulations of their relationship, including their engagement, on the reality TV show, Total Bellas.
John got down on one knee after he and Nikki defeated The Miz and Marse in a tag team match at WrestleMania 33 in April 2017.
In an interview with Channel24 ahead of season one, Nikki dished about allowing cameras into her relationship with John and her family.
In January John told E! that the wedding plans were about to “amp up.”
“It's kind of a special time where there is a little bit of lull and I'm really looking forward to spending some time with Nicole and work on that. Hopefully, in the next few weeks the wedding planning is really going to amp up!”
