Justin Bieber receives backlash for supporting Chris Brown amidst rape accusations

Cape Town - US singer Justin Bieber has found himself being criticised by fans after praising Chris Brown after he denied accusations of rape that were laid against him.

Taking to Chris’s Instagram page to admire the With You singer, who was arrested on rape charges earlier this week, Justin Bieber commented: “No one can touch you ur [sic] the GOAT,” on a video Chris Brown had posted.

This comment did not sit well with fans who felt that it was inappropriate for the 24-year-old to support the singer amidst the rape allegations.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Chris Brown’s French lawyer, Raphael Chiche, said that the allegations were false and that a file for a defamation lawsuit was being prepared against the woman.

“Chris Brown is free. No lawsuits were filed against him. He vigorously challenges the charges against him,” he said.

“A complaint for slanderous denunciation will be filed tomorrow with the public prosecutor of Paris.”

According to The American Baber, other celebrities who have publicly shown their support for the singer include rapper T.I as well as model Winnie Harlow.
