Kathy Griffin spills all the tea about her feud with Ellen DeGeneres

Cape Town – Kathy Griffin has shared all the details about a massive fight she had with Ellen DeGeneres over Joan Rivers.

During a sold-out set - as part of her Laugh Your Head Off world tour - at the Dolby Theatre, Kathy set jokes aside and revealed she and Ellen got into it after her very good friend Joan Rivers died in September 2014, Variety reports.

The fight had been brought on by something Joan told Kathy during their last meal together.

“One of the things that really hurt Joan, and we talked about it at our last meal together, was that Ellen always shunned her and Ellen thought she was vulgar and not funny.”

Following the Fashion Police host’s death, Kathy said she tried to reach out to Ellen to get her to set her feelings aside and pay tribute to Joan on The Ellen Show.

“I just called her and I just said, ‘Look, woman to woman, comic to comic, I think you need to let go of your hatred for Joan Rivers. She’s passed away, just do a fucking tribute, be cool,” Kathy told the audience.

But after Ellen declined, Kathy said it really upset her, prompting her to call Ellen names such as a “fucking untalented hack”.

According to Buzzfeed, Kathy texted Ellen a few days later in an attempt to make light of the harshly worded fight.

She texted Ellen: “It was so Dynasty that I demand to be Alexis as long as you’re Krystle. I think we should do a scene in the pool, I think there should be big hats.”

Kathy then reportedly told her audience: “That bitch didn’t even respond!”

The 57-year-old – who was dropped by her representation and fired by CNN after posting a video holding what looked like President Donald Trump's bloody, severed head – provided no further detail about the fight or whether she and Ellen made up.

The talk show host has not yet commented on Kathy's claims.
