The Never Worn White singer is heartbroken following the loss of her paternal grandmother.

Just a few days after announcing to the world that she and fiancé Orlando Bloom are expecting their first child together, the 35-year-old songstress said farewell to her beloved grandmother, Ann Peal Hudson, E! News reported.

Taking to her Instagram page, Katy shared a heartfelt post with a carousel of pictures of her late grandmother, some of which included her with Orlando and alongside former US president Barack Obama.

It also included an emotional one of 99-year-old Ann in a hospital bed when Katy revealed that she’s pregnant.

In the shared post dedicated to Anne, the mom-to-be revealed that "a lot of what I am is because of my father... and he is because of her".

The singer went on to share more of her favourite memories of her and her grandmother. "She gave me crisp dollar bills in Hallmark cards. She let us eat her favorite almond cookies from the 99 cent store while we asked questions about the different fans she had displayed on her walls."

The award-winning singer also went on to say that some of her character traits, such as her fashion sense, her fighting spirit, her style and authenticity, were inherited from her loving grandmother, The Sun reported.

She concluded the post by saying her unborn child would have an angel to look over him or her, "May she rest in deep peace and kiss the forehead of the soul to come and let them know everything is gonna be okay, especially now that they have gained an angel to look over them."

The star has since received heartwarming messages from several of her fans and friends.

"Thinking of you," Demi Lovato commented.

"Ann has A LOT to answer for! And thankfully it’s all as beautiful as her soul which will be back in the blink of an eye, and all will be okay," Orlando wrote.
