Los Angeles - Kelly Rowland admits she’s considering reuniting with her estranged father for the sake of her three-year-old son, Titan.
The Destiny’s Child singer, who spoke on the topic for Vogue Australia, admits she’s seen Christopher Lovett just once in her life – when she was just a child.
“I haven’t seen him since then,” she admitted. “I do want to know him, meet him, and know his background for the sake of my son.”
While she may not have a relationship with him, Kelly’s husband and manager Tim Witherspoon has communicated with her father on the phone but she admits she is yet to make the call. “I don’t know, I’m just nervous to make that phone call.”
Kelly had strained relationships with her parents, her mother Doris Rowland Garrison died almost four years ago. The Motivation hitmaker moved in with Beyoncé and the Knowles family when she was a teen as they worked on establishing Destiny’s Child.
While admitting she had an “interesting” relationship with Doris, Kelly says she also has some regrets about their relationship. “I would have told my mum I really appreciated her, that she was bold, she was courageous, she was beautiful and that I wish I really told her to her face. I didn’t think she was ever really told that.”
Kelly, who is now a judge on The Voice Australia, did however heap praise for Tina Knowles, who gladly accepted her into a home as a teenager. “Tina was just awesome, always has been, always will be – and having sisters,” she says. “Tina was there when Titan was born, she walked me down the aisle because my mother was actually too sick to walk me. Tina is his [Titan’s] grandmother, you know what I mean.”
